Annual Day Celebration - A Cultural
Extravaganza
New Era Public School, Dwarka celebrated its
Annual Day on 29th November, 2019 amidst much fanfare. The Chief
Guest of the day was Chairperson, Mrs Usha Chopra.
The function began with the auspicious lamp
lighting ceremony. The Director, Mr. Rohit Chopra welcomed the dignitaries and
parents and apprised the audience of the achievements of the school. The
cultural extravaganza began with a soul stirring orchestral presentation by the
school band, followed by the English and Hindi Choir paying tribute to Mother
Earth.
Next followed the Prize Distribution Ceremony.
The meritorious students were felicitated for their outstanding performance in
various fields ranging from academics to co curricular activities. Students
with 100 percent attendance were also rewarded. Student of the Year Award was presented
to the deserving students who were a cut above the others. Pride and joy was
writ large on the shining faces as they stepped up to receive the mementos of
recognition from the hands of the distinguished guests. The Chairperson in her speech congratulated
all the awardees and their parents and lauded the school for providing the
right ambience conducive to a child’s growth and personality development.
The ballet depicted the harsh truth that our
planet Earth is on the verge of destruction. Students through their oratory
skills and dancing spirit presented the problems faced by humans on planet
Earth and also provided solutions to the problems.
The highlight of the function was Greta Thunberg’s
world acclaimed speech on climate change brought live on stage. Afroz Shah who
spearheaded the effort to clean Mumbai’s beaches was brought to light through a
small episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ which received a thunderous applause. The
rhythmic Ganesh Vandana did not just mesmerize the audience, but also gave
solution to do away with festival waste. Finally, students from the primary
wing transported the audience to the realm of future with their dance where
they showcased that Earth would be a happy place to live in, if we take care of
it in the present.
The function culminated with the vote of thanks
presented by the Principal, Mrs. Kanwal Kohli. She thanked the parents for
their presence and their support towards the school. She also extended her
gratitude to everyone who had contributed to the success of the event.
