The Joy of Giving:
Annual Day @ NEPS, Dwarka
The Annual Day at New Era Public School
Dwarka was celebrated on 2nd November 2018 with zest and fervor. The
students showcased how gleeful and gratifying one feels in being empathetic,
sharing with others and embracing humanity, through their annual ballet – ‘The Joy of Giving’.
The event commenced with the lamp
lighting ceremony, followed by an address by the Chairperson, Mrs. Usha Chopra.
She laid emphasis on how true learning happens beyond the textbook. Mrs.
Vandana Chawla, Principal - New Era Public School, Mayapuri, also highlighted
the indispensable role of education, teachers and the school in moulding a
child’s personality. Mr. Rohit Chopra, the Director of the school, stated how
each child is unique and must never be compared with another.
The school choir presented a
self-written and self-composed song ‘Vasudhaivaye
Kutumbakam’, reiterating that the world is one big family. The school band
was also appreciated for their rendition, as they played a medley of the famous
songs Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai and Tu Hai Aasman Mein, along with an
original composition. The meritorious achievers were also acknowledged by the
school dignitaries in the prize distribution ceremony.
The event was followed by the
magnificent ballet put up by the students showcasing famous pieces of literature,
like O. Henry’s Gift of Magi, and Elsa Marston’s Olive Tree. Various dance
performances were also put up including a tribute to Mother Teresa, an epitome
of ‘giving’; a nature dance signifying how selflessly nature shares from its
bounty with all of us, and a candle lighting dance highlighting the solidarity
amid students to take forth the message of ‘joy of giving’.
Mrs.Kanwal Kohli, the Principal,
delivered a vote of thanks to the school dignitaries and the parents, which was
followed by the National Anthem.
